On its formation the SSP has agreed upon a 15 point programme of socialist change. Fighting on that programme the SSP won a seat in the Scottish Parliament for Tommy Sheridan (SSP Convener and CWI supporter.) In the Euro elections we doubled our vote to 4% over the whole of Scotland. The party has consistently beaten the lib-dems to become the fourth party in Scottish politics.
Since the election the ranks of the SSP have swelled. We now have more than 2000 members and have set up many new branches. Socialists are organising all over Scotland from the Orkneys to the Borders. The decision by the Socialist Workers Party in Scotland to join the SSP has been a further boost (see here).
In the 2001 Westminster elections the party contested every seat on a wide-ranging socialist manifesto (Read the manifesto here). We won a magnificent 72, 518 votes.
The SSP is Scotlands biggest growing and most highly respected political force. For more details on joining call 0131 557 0426 (Edinburgh) or 0141 221 7714 (Glasgow).
